Is Launching on Product Hunt Worth It?

Launching on Product Hunt can be a lot of effort – there are lots of things to prepare and its a busy time, but is it actually worth it? I have a look through the good things that can happen from a Product Hunt Launch.

Exposure to a Large Audience

Product Hunt has a large community of early adopters, tech enthusiasts, and investors who are constantly looking for innovative products to try out. The audience of product hunt is made up of the following (according to SEMRush and Similar Web). Launching on Product Hunt puts your product in front of this audience, providing valuable exposure, and potential customers.

User Feedback

The Product Hunt Community is full of helpful makers that are more than willing to help and support you with your product.

Product Hunt is known for its engaged and vocal community which can provide valuable feedback on your product. This feedback can help you refine your product, identify areas of improvement, and address issues before launching it to a wider audience.

There are two ways to go about this – launch and directly ask for feedback as the makers of Ink Illustrations have done of there launch page:

You can also do this via the discussion forums too as Sebastian has done. Common use cases for this are for the Landing, Pricing and Features pages that you need some feedback on.

Increased Visibility

Product Hunt is a well respected platform and as such it has great reach. It’s Newsletter alone has over 500K subscribers and the website as already mentioned garners over 6M visits a month.

If you end up in the Top 5 you’ll get featured in the Product Hunt Newsletter – there’s also a good chance that your launch will then get picked up by bloggers and journalists that’ll mention your product.

Future Launches will be Easier

As you launch on Product Hunt you’ll slowly build a following – this iteration will help future launches so even if the current launch (especially if it’s your first) isn’t that successful the next will do better. Many of the most successful makers on Product Hunt have had dozens of launches – building a following along the way.

If you have brought an audience to your launches, then think about it – they’re now on the platform and will be able to vote for you next time round as well.

Networking and Partnerships

There are lots of opportunities that are lurking in the Product Hunt community. Launching will get yourself visible to potential collaborations with other makers, VCs and most importantly build new relationships with customers.
